FEAR ME, FEAR ME NOT cover reveal + giveaway!!!

Fear Me, Fear Me Not
Elodie Nowodazkij
Publication date: September 27th 2016
Genres: Romance, Suspense, Young Adult

SCREAM meets FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS in this new young adult romantic suspense novel by Elodie Nowodazkij.

Fear is power. They fear me. They don’t fear me enough. Every year a girl disappears in Gavert County, Texas. Their bodies are found days, sometimes months, later with an angel wing carved on their face. They call me “the Angel Killer” and I’m on the hunt again. But this time, it’s personal.

Seventeen-year-old cheerleader Erin Hortz has been warned about the Angel Killer all her life. She never walks alone in the dark. She doesn’t talk to strangers. She doesn’t accept drinks at parties. All she wants is to finish her senior year with a win at the Miss Junior Queen of Hearts pageant, capture the perfect light over the lake with her new camera, and finally catch the attention of her best friend Nadia’s brother—former football star Dimitri Kuklev. Since his injury, they’ve been spending a lot of time together. And getting to know the real Dimitri—not the one she put on a pedestal in her diary is better than she could ever have imagined. And she’s falling hard.

Nineteen-year-old Dimitri’s injury brought him from football superstar with universities from all around the country knocking at his door to not knowing what he wants to do with his life. Taking classes at the local community college is supposed to get him back on track, but all he wants is to be on the field again. The only person who seems to understand him is the one he swore to keep in the friend zone: Erin. His sister Nadia’s best friend and the reason why he can’t keep a girlfriend. Between their early morning jogs, their time spent at the lake laughing, and their late night conversations, he’s having a hard time remembering why it’s such a bad idea.

But when Nadia doesn’t come home after a party, Dimitri and Erin know they must find her before it’s too late—even if that means risking their own lives and everything Erin’s ever known.

Because the main suspect is Erin’s father.

LOVE IN B MINOR – book blitz and giveaway

Love in B Minor Cover

Happy release day to LOVE IN B MINOR by Elodie Nowodazkij!

No promises. No fake tomorrows. That was the plan.

New city. New life. At least, that’s what nineteen-year-old Jen Harrison believes. On the surface, she’s living her dream: dancing in a prestigious dance company in Paris. But her sister’s death and the mistakes she’s tried to bury haunt her. She’s become a pro at hiding who she truly is, and she definitely doesn’t want a guy to derail her, but a one night-stand she can do. Nothing more. She definitely doesn’t plan to see the sexy stranger who made her laugh for the first time in years ever again.

Girls don’t walk away from Lucas Wills. Bad boy turned rock star, he’s got his share of groupies. Always upfront, he doesn’t promise fake tomorrows because love can destroy everything. Been there, done that. His ex not only lied to him, she stomped on his heart, used him to become famous, and almost ruined him. So, waking up alone after a night beyond his wildest imagination with a girl he just met shouldn’t upset him, shouldn’t inspire one of the saddest songs he’s ever written, shouldn’t make him want to chase after her.

When Jen, the one-night stand who got away, auditions to be a dancer in Lucas’ next music video, they can’t stop their growing attraction. But Jen’s secrets and his ex could shatter the careers they tried so hard to build and their hearts…they will have to decide what’s more important and if love is worth the fight.

Love in B Minor is the third standalone novel in Elodie Nowodazkij’s Broken Dreams series.

A SUMMER LIKE NO OTHER

A Broken Dreams Novella

She’s his best friend’s little sister. He’s the biggest player of them all.

They shouldn’t be together. But this summer’s just too tempting.

[Excerpt from Chapter 6 – Nick]

I’m so deep in thought I almost run into a gorgeous girl pushing a little boy.

“Sorry,” I mutter.

And she smiles. “It’s okay.” She’s got an accent. German, maybe? She must be a nanny—she’s with two other girls, and they continue their conversation as I walk past them. They’re bitching about the families they’re working for.

My nanny probably did the same while I was growing up. She probably told all the other nannies how awful I was. According to the psychologist we all saw as a family, I was only trying to get attention.

Maybe I should tell those nannies that the moment will pass. Kids only try to get attention from one source for so long before they get their fix somewhere else. My chosen method is pretty healthy:  no drugs, no drinking…only all eyes on me while I dance. And girls.

Girls, girls, girls.

Actually, Nanny One is pretty hot, especially with the accent. She has short light brown hair, and her big boobs are almost spilling out of her blouse.

She must feel me staring at her, because she turns around. But before I can work the charm I notice Em carrying a box into a moving truck, all by herself. The box is almost bigger than her and her face contorts under the effort. She’s going to trip and hurt herself. If she hurts herself, she won’t be able to dance. If she can’t dance, she’s going to be depressed. If she can’t dance, I won’t see her as often and I’ll be miserable.

“Are you trying to prove something to someone?” I ask her as I relieve her of the heavy box.

She breathes heavily. “Are you trying to get it on with Katrin because Jen is out of town?”

“Katrin?” I slide the box on top of another one and turn back to her.

She points to the girls I was admiring a few seconds ago. “The nanny you were about to hit on.”

“Katrin. Is she American or…?” I waggle my eyebrows.

“She’s German.” She raises one finger at a time as she enunciates the rest super slowly. “She’s here for the summer. She loves going to Central Park and she doesn’t understand why she has to work fifteen hours a day while the mom is a stay-at-home mom. Oh, and she likes girls. So, nice try.”

“Did she hit on you? Oh please, tell me she did. I am getting the best girl-on-girl images in my mind. You. That girl, Katrin. A ballet studio. With all the mirrors. A kiss. Or two. Or more…”

She punches my shoulder. “You’re so dumb. No, she didn’t hit on me, I met her at Starbucks the other day and we started talking.”

“You’re talking to people now, not just hitting them?”

“And you’re losing your mojo. First, Jen who escapes to France before your hot date, and then you almost hit on poor Katrin, who doesn’t want anything to do with you.”

She’s kidding me. Me, losing my mojo? I don’t think so. I stare at Em, at her long legs, her full lips, and I gently tuck a strand of her wild brown hair behind her ear, my finger slowly caressing her cheek.

She sucks in a breath and I bend down, until my lips are at her ears. “Do you want to test that theory?”

“What theory?” She doesn’t move, and I’m not even sure she breathes. My entire body reacts to hers, and I can’t remember what I wanted to prove. I’m under her spell.

“Hey bro!” Roberto yells from the stairs. “Thanks for coming!”

Em retreats at her brother’s voice, muttering something I can’t hear, but the slouch of her shoulders is a tell that she’s disappointed. My hand automatically reaches for hers, wanting to comfort her, maybe even wanting to see if she’ll take the risk of her brother seeing us, wanting to test myself too. It’s nothing but a brief touch, a brief brush of our fingers, a brief hurricane of feelings.

A SUMMER LIKE NO OTHER

A Broken Dreams Novella

She’s his best friend’s little sister. He’s the biggest player of them all.

They shouldn’t be together. But this summer’s just too tempting.

Sixteen-year-old Emilia Moretti’s goal for the summer is simple: forget her brother’s best friend—Nick Grawsky—ever existed. It should be easy: He’s spending his summer in the Hamptons, adding girls in tiny bikinis to his list of broken hearts. Guarantee he won’t be telling them they’re like his little sisters. This summer, Emilia won’t stay awake at night thinking about him. She’ll need flawless ballet movements to have a shot at next year’s showcase, and she’s finally ready to search for her birth parents. But when Nick decides to stay in the city, Emilia’s resolve disappears in a pirouette. Maybe it’s the spin they needed to be together. As long as she doesn’t get stuck believing in happily ever after…

Nick is tired of pretending to be the happy, let’s-have-fun guy. His father wants him to change his career from professional dancer to…lawyer. He needs to put all of his focus on dancing to prove to Daddy Dearest he’s good enough to make it big. And he may have a case of the bluest balls in history courtesy of Emilia. She’s off-limits: The bro code with Roberto even forbids the dirty thoughts he has about her. Besides, he’s not boyfriend material. He only has time for flings, for girls who don’t expect much, for girls he doesn’t want to kiss goodnight. He knows he should resist her, but he’s not sure he wants to…

At least for this summer.

It’s going to be a summer like no other.

FIVE FACTS ABOUT ASLNO

  1. Elodie’s sister’s name is Emilie. This may or may not have influenced the name of the main character to Emilia 🙂
  2. The sentence, “It’s nothing but a brief touch, a brief brush of our fingers, a brief hurricane of feelings.” was written in cooperation with her husband. She asked him for a word, he said “storm,” she changed it to “hurricane”.
  3. Elodie designed the cover of A Summer Like No Other.
  4. A Summer Like No Other almost never saw the light of the day, it was only supposed to be a few notes to help Elodie draft Always Second Best, but the characters wanted their summer to be told.
  5. A lot of kissing was added during the revision stage.

GIVEAWAY + excerpt of Memoirs of an Ordinary Girl: Fresh-meat Year by Terri Klaes Harper

Memoirs of an Ordinary Girl Fresh-Meat YearScroll to the bottom for the giveaway link

This book is set in the early 90s and I’ve known Terri since then. It’s awesome to see her go from creative writing classmate to published author.

Description from Amazon:

Freshman year is the only thing that just might be more horrific and awkward than middle school, and Drew cannot avoid it. Thankfully, she is not alone and still has her support crew of friends, because some things never change, no matter the setting. Old enemies return and new distractions abound, such as a new crush, even while she holds onto the old, the advent of the grunge music movement, helping to plan a wedding, and the creepy neighbor boy down the equally creepy rural road.

 Terri says:

I surprised myself by having Drew meet a new friend in the bathroom.  I didn’t plan her; Ally just happened. Surprises in meeting new characters while I write are a unique treat.

Excerpt:

As the bell rang, I grabbed the bathroom pass and took off to find sanctuary long enough to hold onto some dignity.  I was so confused.  I had actually thought Dustin liked me, but he was still infatuated with Alyssa, which I guess is what I was with him.  How could I be so stupid?  I burst through the bathroom door and checked for feet under the stalls.  It appeared to be empty so I grabbed a paper towel and dried the tears I hadn’t realized had formed and dripped down my face.

A sudden cough and exhale came from the middle stall, along with a cloud of smoke rising above it.  The door creaked opened and a girl I recognized as a junior from my chorus class stepped off the toilet and out of the stall.  “Hey.  You’re one of the freshmen in my chorus class, right?”

“Yeah.  Drew Hotchner,” I replied, a little too timidly.

“Ally VanHeusen,” she said, extending her hand for a handshake, which seemed an odd gesture for a kid in high school, but I took her hand anyway, and she gave a firm squeeze.  “Want one?” she asked, digging out a pack of Marlboros from her purse.

“Nah, I don’t smoke.”

“Yeah, I figured,” she said, gesturing at my homemade “If you don’t smoke, I won’t fart” shirt, “but I thought I’d be friendly, in case you’re a snitch.  I thought you were a teacher for sure, the way you flung that door open when you walked in, like it was a sting operation or something.  You’re not a snitch, are you?”

“No.  No reason to be.”

“Good, Drew Hotchner.  I don’t really want to visit the principal, or my chemistry class,” Ally said as she brushed her hair, which hung long and blue-black only on the left and was shaved on the right side of her head.  “So, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing really.”

“Umm hmm.  I get that you don’t know me and don’t want to tell me anything, but you can, you know.  I’m good at listening, and I got no reason to talk to anyone, just so you know.” She unscrewed her purple lip gloss and applied a thick layer over her black lipstick.   She took what appeared to be some kind of fantasy novel out of her book bag, threw her jacket on the floor in the back corner of the bathroom, and slouched down the wall.

“So you’re just staying in here?” I asked.

“Yeah.  Every day.  I hate chemistry.”

“Why don’t you just leave campus then?”

“No ride.  I get my license in a few months and I’ve been saving for a car, so I’m just hanging here till then.”

“Ok.”

“Drew.  Remember, I’m here if you need to talk.”

“Thanks,” I hesitantly replied.  With one last glance in the mirror to make sure no tears were evident, I left Ally behind in the bathroom with her book and her cigarettes.

When I arrived back to class everyone was diligently working on reading a new chapter in our photography books and answering questions, or at least they were pretending to look diligent about it.  “Are you feeling ok?” Adrienne asked in a low whisper, barely louder than mouthing the words at me.

“I’m fine.  Why?”

“You were gone a while and you smell like smoke.”

“I met someone.”

“In the girls’ bathroom?”

“Yeah.  A girl.  Ally VanHeusen.”

Adrienne just shrugged her shoulders in response.  Could it be that I knew an out of the ordinary person Adrienne did not know?  She always attracted them.  I was too quiet.  Oh well- right place, right time, I guess.

Guest Post with Sherry Ficklin + Giveaway

I’m happy to welcome Sherry Ficklin, the author of the Gods of Fate trilogy.  One lucky commenter will win a signed copy of Foresight, the first book in the series, and a second lucky winner will get a book tote with some very cool swag inside.

**See bottom of post for how to enter**

Attacked at her graduation by a mysterious woman and her gruesome henchmen, Grace was lucky to escape with her life. Rescued by her Aunt Phoenix and a Fae warrior named Chris, Grace is confronted by the startling truth about her heritage. Her mother was the Greek Goddess Pandora. Now it has fallen to Grace to protect her mother’s box from the crazed Demi-Goddess Lilith, who is determined to use it to unleash hell on Earth. As if her bizarre blood legacy wasn’t enough, Grace has begun developing frightening new powers that threaten to destroy her from the inside out. In a world where nothing is what she thought it would be, can Grace find the strength to defeat Lilith and learn to control her powers before she loses her mind?

My fav character in the book was Phoenix and wouldn’t you know it, I snagged an interview.

Read on:

Hi Phoenix, I’m very excited that I have this opportunity to interview you…although I’m a tad intimidated because you could kick my butt without much effort.  So I’ve gotta ask:

     1. Do you work out regularly or were you born much stronger than weak, human me?

I try to keep fit, though my stamina, speed, and strength are naturally better than humans. Because our metabolisms run so slowly, we train constantly to keep in top form.  I will say that Grace dragged me to a cardio-kickboxing class once and I wanted to pummel the instructor. I HATE it when they take a perfectly good sport like kickboxing and water it down for ‘ladies’.

     2. Speaking of being born…I know it’s not polite to ask a lady her age, but I did kinda hear you were almost 2,000 years old.  How long is your life expectancy?  And what happens when you get really, really old?  Your wings don’t fall off or anything, do they?

Ha, ha! No.  The Fae are nearly immortal. However, after a while, there are ways to end your existence, if one desires to do so.  (and not all Fae have wings, a bit of a sensitive subject actually.) I have decided though that the more time I spend with Grace, the faster my life expectancy plummets. I love that girl, but she is a MAGNET for trouble.

     3. At the risk of sounding like a shrink, tell me about your childhood, including the origins of your name.  You were named after the bird, right?

The details of my life are quite inconsequential… very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

Sorry. Slipped into my Dr. Evil speech there for a minute. Where was I? Oh, my name. Well, the symbol of the Phoenix represents the balance of all things, life and death. I was actually born on a battlefield during the First Great War. My father said my birth was “life rising from the ashes of destruction”, hence the name.  My parents were fierce warriors and were killed when I was very young. As it is for any noble born Fae, I was raised at the Palace, studied with tutors, trained with guards, and grew up at the knees of some of our greatest rulers.  I was just over 50 when I took my first journey to the mortal world.

     4. You’ve been living among regular ol’ people for awhile now and no one’s noticed that you’re not quite the same.  How do you keep your fighting/weaponry skills in check?  When you’re at the grocery store and someone cuts you off with their cart, are you ever tempted to shove them into a canned foods display or to use a bag of potatoes as a weapon?

Humans tend to see only what they want to see, which is both a gift and a handicap. I’ve never used a bag of potatoes as a weapon, but I’ve REALLY wanted to on occasion. And, I teach fencing and mixed martial arts. (gotta pay the bills somehow, right?)

     5. While we’re on the subject of weapons…do you have a favorite weapon?  You don’t have any weapons with you at the moment, do you?

I AM the weapon. (laughs) No, at the moment I am quite weaponless. Of course, in my current position- oh, but you don’t know about any of that yet, do you? *grins* My favorite weapons are the Halberd and, when dealing with Grace, a Nerf crossbow.

     6. Grace thinks of you as one of those rare people that truly don’t care what other people think about you.  Is this true and how do you do it?

I suppose there are a few people I respect enough to care what they think of me, but not many. I believe that how one sees oneself is what’s important. How you see yourself is what determines your actions and thus, is what makes you who you are.

     7. You’re so calm under pressure – what sorts of relaxation techniques do you use and what do you do for fun in your spare time?

I do focused meditation and deep breathing exercises. To really relax I like to swim laps, chop wood, and hike. Anything that gets me focused on something outside myself. Oh, and I may have a very minor WoW addiction. Though Hermes just turned me on to HALO, which I’m loving right now too.

     8. (sorry, this really has nothing to do with you, Phoenix, but I have to know): Is Hermes as awesome as I think he is?  Is he seeing anyone?  I’m asking for a friend, not me!

Hermes is one of the few Olympians who is both entertaining and totally trustworthy.  I will say that if you ever receive an invitation to one of his famous “Vegas trips”, go. Just go. It’s the most fun you can have and not end up in prison (hopefully).

And he’s a chronic bachelor, though he does have the random fling (usually with Nymphs). He’s just a really good guy.  Think George Clooney, only HOT, and on a surfboard. That’s Hermes.

     9. Finally, what’s up with you and Lynx?  Those wistful, stolen glances were not lost on me.  Is it something tragic   that’s gonna make me cry?  Am I asking too much?  If you can’t tell me now, will you tell me later????

Lynx is, well was, my first love. There were…issues… that kept us apart. But I’m optimistic. (grins) All good things come to those who wait, right?
