Welcome to my last blog post of the year!
AllTheWriFall ran from September 1-November 30. How did I do? Let’s take a look.
Post a recap of SummySeries 2021
DONE! Read it here.
Fine-tune edit CLAIRE
DONE! I cut 6620 words. Half were the word “like.” I’m only halfway exaggerating.
Finishing CLAIRE was a Rocky moment. **spoiler alert** I won because I went the distance. Cue rousing music score. I did not, however, scream “Yo, Adrian!” at any point. Maybe next time?
Enter CLAIRE in Pitch Wars
DONE! I wasn’t selected as a mentee, but that’s okay. In another Rocky-ish moment, it was a victory just entering the contest after years of huddling in my writing cave.
Start agent research
DONE! I’d forgotten how time-consuming it was. I plan to start querying in early 2022.
Read SAVE THE CAT! Writes a Novel by Jessica Brody
DONE! This book was pre-algebra all over again. I was reading, completely confused, and then suddenly, I got it. That’s also how I learned to swim. Flailing, flailing, flailing and…swimming!
NOT DONE! But I wrote a beat sheet for it and also one for the YA fantasy I’ve been working on and off for over a decade. For the first time since I started writing it (YAF), I could see all three books (should it come to that haha).
I plan to write all the words on both in 2022.
