Friday the 13th

What I’m about to type has no point other than I had this dream in August 2004 and I still vaguely remember it.  And it seems fitting for Friday the 13th.

I won’t include the whole long-winded write-up I did after waking up that morning, but the main idea was:

I, by some glitch, could see Death. And, death wasn’t a predetermined thing- anytime we were in a potentially deadly situation, “just in case,” Death would surface. Oddly enough, in the form of a cowboy. All I really rem is that he had a black hat. He was the good death, when you died quick or painlessly. Bad death was another cowboy who wore his hat over his face and only nodded or shook his head. He was there for the people who died in horrible agony, etc. He was more like a specter and he wore his hat over his face either b/c it was horribly disfigured or b/c it just wasn’t there (if you looked at it, you would see your own death type thing).

Hmm…do I smell the premise of a new book???

Or possibly a movie starring Clint Eastwood and Sam Elliott.
