Do the Write Thing for Nashville – definitely go check out this blog, tons of cool items to bid on, and the money benefits those affected by the Nashville flooding. New items are posted every day and you have three days to bid on the items. Some really cool stuff from t-shirts to hanging out with bestselling authors. Can’t go wrong there.
My alma mater, Warren County High School, in good ol’ Front Royal VA (aka Helltown), is putting on “The Wedding Singer” this coming weekend. May 13, 14, & 15 @ 7PM, tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students. Hurray for 80’s rock musicals!
Shenandoah University in Winchester VA will be hosting its 25th Anniversary Children’s Literature Conference from June 28-July 2, 2010. There is an amazing group of authors scheduled including Katherine Paterson (if you didn’t weep while reading “Bridge to Terabithia” or “Jacob Have I Loved,” then you are a monster) and Amy Krouse Rosenthal (I haven’t read any of her children’s books, but her memoir “Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life” is a good read).
