Support Teen Literature Day

Hmm…seems I’m a little late in the day to post info about Support Teen Literature Day.  I might have to celebrate tomorrow – it’s been a long day of high-fiving.  Or not.  I only handed out one high five today, I’m a bit of a disappointment.

This link has more info about how to celebrate and some of these ideas are fun, I’d do these even if it wasn’t for a special reason:

  • Host a teen movie night and show movies made from YA novels
  • Celebrate banned books week
  • Share YA books with adults (I just recommended a YA book to my mom the other week)
  • Ask teens to create their own book trailer

Since we’re celebrating teen lit, I want to give a shout-out to YA Author Sherry Ficklin who has exciting news since her interview on A Can of Corn.  Look for Foresight, the first book in the Gods of Fate Trilogy, this September!  Read more on Sherry’s blog – sounds like she’ll have some awesome giveaways starting in May.  Congrats, Sherry!

On an unrelated note, musician Chris Feltner (Corn interview here) got some press in the Northern Virginia Daily about his experimental show.  Read and enjoy, but ignore the date in the article, because the show is next weekend, the 24th, not this weekend.  Remember: April 24th, come out to Cristina’s Café in Strasburg – I’ll be reposting the flyer next week with all the details.

  1. Holy crap, did I miss high five day? *grumble* As a huge supporter of both teen literature and high fives I suggest a new day where we high five people with copies of teen books. I’m using Twilight becasue of it’s general heft.
